According to the Canadian government's Office of Consumer Affairs, 85 percent of Canadians have a cell phone. With more than 33 million people living in Canada, having someone's cell phone number can be the most efficient and effective manner of reaching that person. If you've misplaced the contact information for a friend, family member or business colleague in Canada, knowing how to find a cell phone number can come in handy.

Instructions

  • 1. Look for the individual's name in your provincial phone book if the person you want to contact via cell phone lives in your province. Such phone books are delivered to your home free by your local telephone service provider. With the increased use of cell phones, many individuals choose to list their cell phone numbers in these Canadian phone books.

  • 2. Find a cell phone number on the online Canada411 database. Canada411 lists public cell phone numbers from the customers of Canada's largest cell phone service providers, including Fido and Bell. Canada's federal privacy regulations require that you know the individual's first and last name, as well as a postal code or city name, before you can try to find a cell phone number on the Canada411 database.

  • 3. Search for the individual on a search engine such as Yahoo! or Google. Include the individual's name within quotation marks, and include "cell phone" within the search.

  • 4. Obtain the services of a licensed private investigator. A Canadian private investigator can help you find a cell phone number that is not easily obtained through traditional, public methods of research. You can find a reputable private investigator who is licensed to work in your province through the Canadian Private Investigators' Resource Centre.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep backups of all of your contacts to avoid losing important cell phone numbers.
